We created this black forest smoothie bowl because breakfast is our all time favourite meal. We’re giving ourselves double points for turning dessert into breakfast whilst still being healthy!
I stumbled upon something new in my local IGA in Mullumbimby – frozen sour cherries. OMG. I had to buy them and create something with them.
Smoothies and smoothie bowls are life. How I haven’t gotten sick of them is beyond me. Perhaps because the flavour options are limitless! Adding protein is a must to ensure you’re getting good levels but, more importantly, helping stabilise those blood sugars.

Ingredients
Smoothie base- 2 frozen bananas
- 1/2 cup sour cherries
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (or add 1-2 tbsp cacao
- 100ml almond milk (made using our Almond Mylk Base) *Tip: Blend your milk the night before so it thickens up overnight
- Granola
- desiccated coconut
- fresh cherries
- melted dark chocolate
