01 Nov Delicious Salted Caramel Smoothie
This 7 ingredient, refined sugar free, delicious salted caramel smoothie can be made in minutes yet will satisfy for hours. With a secret ingredient that brings a creaminess you’ve been waiting for, you’ll never guess what vegetable is used to create this consistency, whilst remaining discreet.
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (we have a few favourites but whatever protein you prefer is just fine)
- 1 tsp mesquite (you can buy this from your local bulk wholefoods store)
- 1/2 zucchini** (trust us, you won’t taste it)
- 2 medjool dates
- 1 banana**
- 300ml Nut Mylk Base mylk*^
- Pinch salt
* If you haven’t got any mylk ready to go, just add 1 tsp of NMB and 250ml water to the mix.
** The banana and zucchini are great as they are but if you have time, freezing them will take this smoothie to the next level.
^ If you prefer your smoothie thick enough to be eaten with a spoon, in a bowl, feel free to reduce the amount of mylk.
Combine all the ingredients, except the mylk, into your blender and begin to blend, whilst adding the mylk slowly until at a consistency that you enjoy.
This delicious salted caramel smoothie is high in protein, therefore great for post workout. Being high protein means that it helps with the repair of muscles and maintaining muscle mass. Blood sugar regulating and provides sustained energy throughout the day. Mesquite is also blood sugar regulating and a low GI food that is high in minerals, whilst giving a beautiful and subtle caramel flavour. The banana, dates and zucchini support healthy bowls by providing an excellent source of fibre. If you’re game, feel free to add a whole zucchini in!
